Healthy Fast Food in Orlando That Doesn't Suck
· By the Sus Hi Team
Let's be real for a second. Most "healthy" fast food in Orlando is a wilted salad in a plastic clamshell with a dressing packet that undoes the whole thing. We've all been there. Sitting in a parking lot off Colonial, eating lettuce, feeling nothing.
We opened our first Dojo across from UCF back in 2011 because we thought that was ridiculous. Food that's good for you shouldn't taste like punishment.
Build it yourself. That's the whole trick.
Here's the thing about our sushi bowls — you control every single thing that goes in them. Want brown rice instead of white? Done. Want to swap rice for spring mix entirely and load it with salmon, cucumber, edamame, avocado, and seaweed salad? Also done, and honestly that's what half our regulars order.
Nobody's hiding butter in it. Nobody's deep-frying your protein unless you specifically ask for tempura (and hey, no judgment, some days you need the Fry Me a River Burrito).
The Create Your Own Bowl comes in Small, Regular, or Large, so you're not stuck eating a portion built for someone twice your size. And if you want to keep things clean, the Hi-Ya! Waska Bowl is fully vegan and stupidly good. I'd put it up against any "health food" spot in town.
What I actually order when I'm eating light
- Create Your Own Poke Bowl — raw salmon, spring mix base, cucumber, edamame, seaweed salad, ponzu. Barely 10 minutes and I'm out.
- Crazy Rich Salmon Bowl — raw, spicy, packed with protein.
- Chilled Noodle Bowl with teriyaki chicken — light but it actually fills you up.
- Edamame + Miso Soup when I just need something small.
Six Dojos across Orlando. Pick whichever one's closest.
We're not hiding out in one corner of the city. Our UCF Dojo is the original — right across from campus, and it's open until 2AM at select Dojos, which UCF students have definitely figured out. There's the Millenia Dojo on Millennia Blvd if you're near the mall and want something that isn't a food court pretzel.
Lake Nona for the Medical City crowd. Altamonte Springs if you're up north. Colonial (50D) on East Colonial Dr, and Chickasaw over on Chickasaw Trail. Six spots. Somebody's near you.
That's kind of the point — healthy fast food in Orlando shouldn't require a 25-minute drive and a prayer about parking.
But also… you don't have to eat healthy every time
Look, we're not the food police. Some days you want the Steak Mac & Cheese Crunch Burrito, and that's a completely valid life choice. What matters is that both options exist in the same building. You can eat clean Monday and go absolutely feral on Friday.
That flexibility is why people keep coming back. Nobody wants a restaurant that makes them feel guilty.
