Sushi in New Tampa? Here's Where the Ninjas Eat

Let's be real for a second. If you live around New Tampa, you've got options for sushi — but most of them are either a sit-down spot where you're dropping $60 and waiting 45 minutes, or a grocery store case where the rice has been sitting since Tuesday.
We opened our Tampa Dojo in June 2020 (yeah, that June — great timing, right?) right near USF because we thought this side of town deserved a third option. Fast. Fresh. Built exactly how you want it. And honestly? Y'all have shown up for us ever since.
What Makes Us Different From Every Other Sushi Spot Around Here
We're a build-your-own concept. That means you walk the line, point at what you want, and watch a Ninja make it right in front of you. Base, protein, toppings, sauces — it's your bowl. Nobody's telling you that you can't put spicy krab AND steak in the same burrito. (You can. People do. It rules.)
Our Grandmasters, Robert and Teresa, spent three years testing this whole thing at family sushi parties in Orlando before opening the first Dojo across from UCF back in 2011. Fourteen years later, we're still one of the only places doing fast-casual sushi like this in Florida.
The stuff you should actually order
- Steak Mac & Cheese Crunch Burrito — sushi rice, mac and cheese, steak, crunch. It shouldn't work. It absolutely works. If you haven't tried it, what are you even doing?
- Party in My Mouth Bowl — genuinely the most underrated thing on our menu. I will die on this hill.
- Boom Boom Shrimp Bowl — the sauce game here is unmatched.
- Krab Rangoons — get an order. Then get a second order because you're not sharing.
- Hi-Ya! Waska Bowl — vegan and legitimately good, not "good for vegan" good.
Why USF Students Basically Live Here
Select Dojos are open until 2AM. Do the math on that when it's midnight, you just finished a study session at the library, and every other decent spot on Fowler shut down hours ago. Finding sushi New Tampa can actually get you at that hour is basically impossible — except here.
We're also close enough to campus, Wiregrass, and the Bruce B. Downs corridor that it's a quick trip whether you're coming from class, work, or your apartment off 42nd Street.
