College Student Friendly Restaurants in Orlando: A Real Guide
· By the Sus Hi Team
We've been across the street from UCF since 2011. That means we've watched roughly fourteen years of students stumble in at 1:47am, still in the same hoodie they wore to an 8am lecture, asking if we're still open. (We usually are. More on that in a sec.)
So when people search for college student friendly restaurants Orlando has to offer, we feel weirdly qualified to answer. Not just because we run a Dojo — but because we've fed a lot of finals-week ninjas.
What Actually Makes a Restaurant Student-Friendly?
It's not just "cheap." Cheap food is everywhere. Here's what actually matters when you're on a student budget and a student schedule:
- Late hours. If you close at 9pm, you're a lunch spot. Sorry.
- Portion-to-price ratio. Can you split it into two meals? That's the real math.
- Digital ordering that works. Nobody wants to call in an order between classes.
- Somewhere you can actually customize. Vegan roommate, gym-bro roommate, and picky roommate all need to eat at the same place.
- A rewards program that isn't fake. Free food should be achievable in one semester, not one decade.
Late Night Is Non-Negotiable
Orlando's restaurant scene gets sleepy early. That's the honest truth. Which is why select Dojos stay open until 2AM — the UCF Dojo especially, because we know what 2am near campus looks like. Study groups, post-shift servers, people who just got out of a show downtown.
Most places searching under college student friendly restaurants Orlando won't tell you their real hours. Check before you drive.
The Portion Math (This Is the Important Part)
Here's a tip we give people constantly: order a Large Create Your Own Sushi Bowl, eat half, fridge the rest. The rice holds up. You just made two meals.
Bowls and burritos became our #1 sellers by accident — we opened thinking rolls would carry us. Turns out students wanted volume. Go figure.
Our Honest Menu Picks for Broke-but-Hungry
- Steak Mac & Cheese Crunch Burrito — if you haven't had this, I genuinely don't know what you're doing with your life. Mac and cheese. In a sushi burrito. It shouldn't work.
- Party in My Mouth Bowl — massively underrated. Says it every day.
- Hi-Ya! Waska Bowl — fully vegan, actually filling, not a sad side salad situation.
- Krab Rangoons — split with a friend. Or don't. We're not judging.
Where to Go Depending on Where You Live
We've got seven Dojos, and a few are basically built for students. UCF Dojo is the original. Tampa/USF Dojo covers our Bulls. Chickasaw and Colonial are solid if you're living off-campus east side, and Lake Nona if you're out that way for med school.
Download the App. Seriously.
Our rewards app is on iOS and Android and about 58% of our orders come through digital ordering. Order ahead, walk in, grab it, leave. When you've got twenty minutes between classes, that's the whole ballgame.
Look — finding good college student friendly restaurants Orlando-wide takes some trial and error. But if you want a bowl the size of your textbook at midnight, you know where we are. Come through the Dojo. Bring your roommates. #SusHi
