Where to Find the Best Sushi Bowls Tampa Has (USF Dojo)
· By the Sus Hi Team
Let's be real about Tampa for a second. You've got incredible Cuban food, you've got Ybor, you've got about four hundred places to get a great sandwich. But sushi that's fast, customizable, and doesn't cost you forty bucks and a 90-minute sit-down? That list gets short fast.
That's exactly why we opened our Tampa Dojo back in June 2020, right by USF. And we've been quietly building what we think are the best sushi bowls Tampa has going ever since.
The USF Dojo, Explained
We're up in the New Tampa / USF area — close enough to campus that you can be here between classes, close enough to Busch Gardens that you should absolutely eat here instead of paying theme park prices for a pretzel.
If you've never been to a Sus Hi Dojo before, here's the deal. We're a ninja-themed sushi shop. Our stores are Dojos, our crew are Ninjas, our managers are Senseis. It's not a bit we do halfway. And the whole thing runs on build-your-own — you walk the line, you call the shots, we torch it and sauce it in front of you.
Start with a Create Your Own Bowl
Small, Regular, or Large. Pick your base, pick your protein, pile on toppings, then pick a house sauce (or three — nobody's stopping you). Sushi bowls are our #1 seller across all seven Dojos and honestly it's not close.
Funny thing is, when Robert and Teresa opened the original UCF Dojo in 2011, they figured rolls would carry the menu. Bowls and burritos took over almost immediately. The people spoke.
If You Don't Want to Think, Order These
- Party in My Mouth Bowl — genuinely the most underrated thing we make. Spicy, layered, weirdly addictive.
- Boom Boom Shrimp Bowl — crispy shrimp, boom boom sauce, done deal.
- Crazy Rich Salmon Bowl — raw salmon, spicy, tastes like it should cost double.
- Lit Bowl — for the people who actually mean it when they say "make it spicy."
- Hi-Ya! Waska Bowl — fully vegan and not a sad afterthought.
And if you're a first-timer, get Krab Rangoons on the side. I've never once regretted it.
The Mac & Cheese Situation
Yes, we put mac and cheese in a sushi burrito. The Steak Mac & Cheese Crunch Burrito exists and it shouldn't work but it absolutely does. There's a Tempura Mac Bowl too. If you haven't tried this category yet, what are you even doing?
Why USF Students Keep Coming Back
Late hours. That's a big one — select Dojos are open until 2AM, which matters a lot when you're deep in a study session on Fowler and nothing decent is open.
Also: our rewards app. It's on iOS and Android, it's free, and if you're eating here more than twice a month you're leaving money on the table by not using it. Over 58% of our sales come through digital ordering now, so you can just order ahead and grab it.
We're not trying to be the fanciest sushi in the city. We're trying to be the sushi you actually eat on a Tuesday. And when people ask us about the best sushi bowls Tampa's got, we'd rather just hand you one and let you decide.
Come see us at the Tampa Dojo, or order ahead at order.incentivio.com/c/sushieatstation. Tell the Ninjas what you want — they've heard weirder. #SusHi #SushiBowl #TampaFood
