Hi-Ya Ninjas! Welcome to part 10 of our series- “Meet the Team”, where we get up close and personal about the Master Team and Ninjas behind the scenes! I asked these ninjas a bunch of questions about themselves and learned exciting things about them! I’m your host, Sunshine and I’ll be taking you through these amazing ninjas and the stories behind them.

Today we’ll be talking about Tiffany Chan, a.k.a. Master Turtle! 🐢

She is the Chief Marketing Officer, (CMO) and handles all of the marketing for Sus Hi! She leads a team of graphic designers, content builders, videographers, and bloggers! They’re all featured throughout the “Meet the Team” series 🙌🏽 To sum up what she does, Master Turtle creates and upholds the FUN brand that aligns with Sus Hi in-store and online!

What were you doing before Sus-Hi?

Turtle: “Before Sus Hi, I was working at my family’s Asian grocery market. Then I joined Sus Hi when it first opened as a regular ninja. Worked my way up and became manager then joined the Master Team as part of marketing!”

What would you say is your specialty in art? How would you describe your style?

Turtle: “In graphic design, I believe my specialty is attention to detail. I assemble the design, and I am very picky on how the text is laid out, how large or small the text is, what font is used. If there’s a small unwanted crumb in the image of a sushi bowl, I make sure it’s perfectly clean and presentable as an image. I’m a perfectionist yet ninja fast with my designs! As for my style – literally Sus Hi IS my style! Anything you see from Sus Hi is a representation of myself. Fun, quirky, artsy, colorful – das me! The company allowed me to shape and build the brand on my own. So if you’ve seen the past styles of Sus Hi that was me in my beginning years!”

What project are you most proud of creating and why?

Turtle: “To date I am most proud of designing the Chickasaw Dojo. Funly (the CEO) and I both teamed up to design this Dojo. We put our whole heart and soul into this project. We had one single idea to start which was Japanese zen garden theme. That’s all we knew, but we loved the idea of it. From there we were able to build upon this idea to create what Chickasaw Dojo is today. I love coffee shops, so I personally had a lot of inspiration from places like Starbucks and local Foxtail Coffee. I’m in awe of how this Dojo turned out because it looks the most different from any of our others. Each Dojo just keeps getting better and better with time!”

How does it feel being a part of the team?

Turtle: “It’s been an amazing journey. I’ve worked with Sus Hi since it first opened its doors back in 2011. I’ve grown so much as a person and as a leader. All the things I’ve learned in life has been due to Sus Hi and I am forever grateful for the things I learned and the amazing people I’ve met. I love my Sus Hi family!! I even met my now fiance through the company! 💍”

What’s your favorite part about working at Sus Hi?

Turtle: “The people – who are my coworkers and friends. People are so important in any area in life. If you have the right people beside you it just makes the journey even better.”

What’s your passion?

Turtle: “Anything art! I love creativity and Sus Hi has given me the opportunity to express that. I also love drawing and painting. Ink and watercolor are my favorites!”

What do you do on your days off?

Turtle: “I love painting on the side and a new hobby I’m picking up – sewing. :)”

What’s your favorite Sus-Hi meal?

Turtle: “There are so many favorites that have come and gone as I’ve worked at Sus Hi. Currently it’s this: white rice mini bowl with grilled steak. Toppings: carrots, mango, wonton noodles, sweet potato flakes, almonds, chili powder, and nori seasoning. Sauces: very light on the white sauce and some soy sauce! ^_^”

What’s your favorite quote, and why?

Turtle: “My favorite quote is a pretty well-known one that you might see on a rust wooden plaque you’d find in a Michaels lol. It’s “Happiness is homemade.” It’s a super short and super simple one, but it resonates with me because of the simplicity. Homemade to me means within yourself. No one should rely on others or events in life to be happy. It’s a choice. You are the maker of your own happiness.”
